JPM: all at once or every month?
Take $12,000: all of it on day one, or $1,000 a month for a year. Across every starting month since 1985 (491 of them), the lump sum was ahead after 12 months in 324 (66%). The lump sum usually won, but roughly one start in 3 favored spreading it out. The best case for monthly investing was a start in May 1990, when it finished the year 62% ahead.
Worst drop
JPM's worst fall in this history was -73.3%, a near wipe-out, from March 1986 to October 1990. Getting back to the old high took until April 1992: 18 months from the bottom and 6.1 years from the peak. $1,000 invested at that peak shrank to about $267 at the low.
JPMorgan Chase dividends
JPM paid $6.15 per share over the last 12 months, quarterly. At $337.34 that is 1.82%, a moderate yield. From 2020 to 2025 the yearly payout grew +9.0% a year, well ahead of inflation. The yearly total did not fall once in the last ten years. Amounts are adjusted for splits.

About JPMorgan Chase

| Sector | Financials (banking) |
| Dividend | Paid quarterly |
JPMorgan Chase is the largest bank in the U.S., with consumer banking, credit cards, investment banking and asset management under one roof.
It came through the 2008 crisis in better shape than its rivals and bought Bear Stearns and Washington Mutual along the way. Like other banks it had to cut its dividend in 2009, to 5 cents a share, before rebuilding it.
Bank stocks tend to do well when interest rates rise and the economy is strong, and badly in recessions, when loans go bad.
