TQQQ: all at once or every month?
Take $12,000: all of it on day one, or $1,000 a month for a year. Across every starting month since 2010 (190 of them), the lump sum was ahead after 12 months in 145 (76%). The lump sum usually won, but roughly one start in 4 favored spreading it out. The best case for monthly investing was a start in December 2021, when it finished the year 158% ahead.
Worst drop

TQQQ aims to return three times the Nasdaq-100's move each day. Over one day it does that closely. Over months and years it does not, because the daily reset compounds: in choppy markets it loses value even if the index ends flat, and in steady rallies it can gain more than three times.
That is why TQQQ's history looks spectacular from 2010, when it started near a market low, and brutal in 2022, when it lost about 80% from its peak. A start date just before a deep fall can take many years to recover from.
