QQQM: all at once or every month?
Take $12,000: all of it on day one, or $1,000 a month for a year. Across every starting month since 2020 (62 of them), the lump sum was ahead after 12 months in 50 (81%). That is lopsided: for QQQM, waiting to invest has usually cost money. The best case for monthly investing was a start in December 2021, when it finished the year 26% ahead.
Worst drop
QQQM's worst fall in this history was -32.5%, a deep bear-market fall, from December 2021 to December 2022. It was back at the old high by December 2023, only 12 months after the bottom. $1,000 invested at that peak shrank to about $675 at the low.
QQQM dividends
QQQM paid $1.32 per share over the last 12 months, quarterly. At $266.85 that is 0.49%, a small yield; nearly all of the return has come from the price.
| Year | Dividends / share | Change | Yield |

QQQM holds exactly the same Nasdaq-100 index as QQQ but charges a lower fee and has a lower share price. Invesco launched it in 2020 for long-term investors, while QQQ remains the fund traders use.
Because QQQM is only a few years old, this page compares it over its own life. For the long history of the Nasdaq-100, see QQQ, whose returns QQQM matches almost exactly.
Is switching from QQQ worth it?
QQQM's fee is 0.05 percentage points lower than QQQ's. On $10,000 that is $5 a year, and over 20 years with growth it can add up to a few hundred dollars. If you already hold QQQ in a taxable account, selling it to buy QQQM would trigger capital gains tax that usually costs more than the fee saved. The cleaner move is to put new money into QQQM and leave the old QQQ alone.
